Ben's Afternoon Tai Chi Classes
Monday, 18 August 2008
Hi all,
Just letting you know I'll be running taichi classes on certain afternoons from here on in. This is primarily for wushu people who can't make it to morning classes, but any taichi members who'd like some extra practise are most welcome to turn up, too. To start, I will run a class at 4pm this Wednesday, meeting in the Sports Centre foyer, just to see what kind of numbers to expect. From there, we can plan more.
If anybody has strictly limited availability but still wants to come along, please let me know (at mistermorgan@gmail.com) and I'd be happy to move the times around.
The classes will be free, and run for around 1.5 - 2hours, most likely.

Semester 2 exciting events
Wednesday, 6 August 2008
Hellooooooo everyone!
Welcome back to a new semester at MUTW!!!
It's good to see many old and new faces. Here are the upcoming events that would be happening at our Club! Mark your calendars :)
Welcome Back Dinner
Our social coordinator David is organizing a dinner this Friday Aug 8 after Wushu training. Meet at the foyer of Sports Centre at 7:30pm.
Wushu Grading by Master Liu
Master Liu is introducing a new grading system into our Club. The first grading will be held on Aug 22 (Fri) in the last half an hour of normal training time. You will have to perform a form in front of Master Liu and everyone else but it will be judged by Master Liu. Bring along $10 and you will get a certificate for it!
10th MUTW Taichi & Wushu Festival
The event runs 9am-6pm on Aug 24. It includes Taichi & Wushu competitions and showcase performances. Even though our Club is not sending members to compete this year, some members are still interested in going there to observe for just a while for fun or for planning to compete next year.
The main problem is transport because getting to the Clayton campus of Monash is rather tricky with public transportation. So the question is whether there is any member out there who is willing to help with driving that day. Let us know if you have a car and are available. Kristy (a.k.a. Mary) will be gathering people to go there.
Wushu Cross training @ Monash
Monash University Wushu Club (Clayton Campus) is inviting us to their BBQ + special training on Aug 28 (Thurs).
Rough Schedule:
5pm –leave from Melbourne campus
6pm –BBQ at Monash
8pm – training with a focus on 'Iron Stomach techniques'
10pm –training ends. Head back to Melbourne.
Send an email to chung.eugenie@gmail.com with the following:
1) Your mobile number
2) Car –whether you have a car and how many people can fit into your car. Can you drive people from Melbourne campus and back?
The number of people that we can take will depend on the number of car spaces available. If we have limited amount of spots then we can only take those who reply the quickest.
Federation Square Performance
We are planning to perform at Federation Square at around 1:45-2pm for the annual Malay Fiesta on Aug 31 (Sun). Come and support!
More details will be posted later this month.
Cross training @ Melbourne
We are going to invite Monash Wushu Club to our Club in the following month... most likely on Sept 19 (Fri) followed by dinner together in Chinatown.
Reminder about membership payment (no discount after this week)
Half Membership = Once a week $55
Single Membership = Twice a week $100
Half + single Membership = Thrice a week $155
Double Membership = Four times a week $180
Club T-shirts / dress code
We won't force you to wear them but we recommend that you come to trainings with Club T-shirt $22 (or white T-shirt) with a pair of dark Wushu pants (or dark track pants) and suitable Wushu/sports shoes. This need to look unified as a Club, particularly when we are holding cross trainings *hint*.
Cheers,
Eugenie
